Routine x-small and microloc root maintenance generally takes approximately 2 to 3½ hours, depending on your loc count and maintenance interval. Additional time may be needed when locs require extra separation or corrective attention, including joined roots, random or unhealthy parts, springy or uneven shafts, loops, bunching, or significant slippage. If significant additional time is needed and the schedule can accommodate it, a fee of $1 per additional minute will apply. This includes time beyond your scheduled appointment due to late arrival or the condition of your locs. The recommended care, and estimated additional time will be discussed before proceeding. Interlocking root maintenance is typically done every 10–12 weeks (be able to easily stick your thumb through the new growth) to maintain healthy, secure locs and a tighter, patterned loc finish. This technique uses an interlocking tool or crochet latch hook allowing the locs to be maintained at the root without unraveling when washed. Remember: the scalp is skin and needs to be washed, too. With proper hygienic practices, interlocking allows for little to no buildup. INCLUDES • Cleansing wash • Root maintenance with no added product of properly maintained locs with at least 1.5 inches of new growth. IMPORTANT: Because interlocking creates a unique loc pattern, it is not recommended to switch between interlocking and other maintenance methods.

Crochet root maintenance is typically done every 10-12 weeks (be able to easily stick your thumb through the new growth) to maintain a lived-in, mature loc finish. This technique uses a crochet hook needle with no added product, allowing the locs to be maintained at the root without unraveling when washed. This method unravels when washed and does not provide the same hygienic practices between appointments as interlocking or crochet maintenance. Remember: the scalp is skin and needs to be washed, too.
